Best Hunting Flashlight Reviews

Let’s get into the lights themselves, shall we? Each of these products has been vetted and tested so that you know the features and drawbacks and can make a fully informed decision. As you look at the products, keep in mind your answers from the section above. Compare them to the features of these lights and you will find the right one for your needs with ease.

BlueFire Forest Camo Flashlight 1200 LM XML-L2

This is a nice, solid flashlight that isn’t too rough on your budget. The 1200 lumen LED light gives around 100,000 hours of working time, so you won’t get left in the dark with this one. It uses an 18650 or 3 AAA batteries. It’s about 6 inches long and 1.75 inches at the flash sight with a 1.5 inch handle. It will easily clip to belts as a small but powerful light, though it can be a bit heavy.

Pros

The camo color makes it as stealthy as you and all but guaranteed that the animals won’t see it and run, but the hidden orange button will stand out to you so you won’t be fumbling in the dark to turn it on and off as needed.

This is also a fantastic choice if you think you’ll be hunting in the rain or the fog because it has an IP65 waterproof grade. It comes with an adjustable focus. Just stretch it for each different use need.

This is a 5-mode flashlight. You can use the high, middle, or low lighting setting, or use strobe to signal other hunters. In a pinch, the SOS mode will let others know that you need assistance. The one downside is that these are all toggled through the orange button. You have to remember not to press the orange button too hard because that will turn it on and off instead.

To make this purchase even better, BlueFire has really great customer service. If something is wrong or you are dissatisfied, just give them a call and they will do everything they can to make things right with you.

Cons

The downsides we found with this light are that the orange power button is fragile, the battery life doesn’t seem that long so you will have to bring some extra batteries, and that if you end up dropping it in the water, it will be too foggy to use until it dries out or it will stop working all together.

However, this is balanced by the affordability of the model. The adjustable focus makes it easy to see things at a distance as though they were much closer, the camouflage makes it harder for your prey to spot you, and it is the among brightest lights we have seen for hunters.

Klarus XT12GT Cree XHP35 HI D4 LED Tactical Rechargeable Flashlight

This is a great flashlight for hunters who can afford to splurge on a high tech treat. The features on this flashlight have me drooling. It is just gorgeous.

Let’s look at the outside specs for a minute. It’s a sleep black body made of 6061-T6 aerospace aluminum alloy with military grade HAIII anodizing. A tempered glass lens with AR film plating to guard against scratching and ensure durability protects the light. It has a stainless steel stroke bezel, magnetic charging with a battery capacity and charge indicator, a clip for your belt, and a tactical grip ring.

There’s a dual button tail switch and even a magnetic charging connector that will allow you to charge devices and also includes a 10 lumen, non-glare, warm close up assist light. The flashlight also includes a KLARUS 18650 3600mAh battery, a holster, a USB cable (for charging of said devices), a lanyard, and an extra O-ring.

Pros

The flashlight can be used for near or far illumination, and it has several modes: low, medium, high, and turbo brightness, along with strobe and SOS lighting options. Its light shines up to 600 meters ahead and allows for programmable interaction so you can customize your lighting for your exact needs. It will also serve as an extreme spotlight if necessary and thanks to an extremely powerful battery (the same one Tesla uses), it will last for a very long time. The battery is included with the purchase.

Cons

The downside to this flashlight is that it is much more expensive than most other tactical lights. By that, I mean that it is quadruple the average price of the other recommendations on this list. As I said, it is a splurge. I’m not the only one who agrees, either, because Klarus has a very hard time keeping this product in stick.

As a splurge, it’s fabulous, though. Unlike the other recommended models, this flashlight is water proof up to 2 meters, so if it ends up submerged there’s no harm done as long as you fish it back out again! The magnetic charger is an awesome addition, and has a self-locating base so you don’t have to worry about placement issues, and the supplied battery is a massive workhorse. Its capacity indicator gives you plenty of warning for when you’ll need to recharge and the ITS temperature control customizes your lighting. It’s also an easy, single touch interface for nearly any mode you want to use.

Wayllshine Scalable Red LED

The Wayllshine light is friendly for nearly any budget. It has an extremely low price point while still maintaining quality workmanship. Although this flashlight is much lower tech, with only a 200 lumen maximum output and only high, low, and strobe settings, it does have a feature that makes it worth including on the list: it casts red light, which is ideal for hunting.

The human eye is extremely sensitive to red light, so hunters will have no issues seeing the beam, but nearly all the prey animals you might want to hunt don’t see red light and won’t be spooked by it, whereas typical white light flashlights will warn them you are nearby. This lets you easily find your prey without alerting them to your presence. That makes for clean shots on prey that won’t know to run until it’s too late.

The red light also allows for observation, if that’s more your style. With a white light, animals scatter and you can’t see their natural behavior. With the red light, you can study them and they will behave like normal. This is especially nice for watching snakes and reptiles and turtles.

This light takes a 14500 battery, or if you don’t want rechargeable, it takes a single AA battery. This powers you for 150 yards at 200 lumens. It is an extremely light flashlight, weighing in at just 60 grams and measuring only 9 centimeters by 2 centimeters. It comes with a 1-year warranty for free re placement and a 30-day money back guarantee.

As an added bonus, this flashlight has been designed to mount easily to a variety of pistols and rifles.

TC 1200 Pro Flashlight

This is a fantastic option. It has a lot of similar features to the high tech Klarus splurge, but without the high tech price hike. It’s a very moderately priced flashlight

This light is 25 times brighter than your average flashlight, so it can double as a spotlight. It has 5 modes: high, medium, low, SOS, and strobe. It runs on 3 AAA batteries or 1 Li-ion rechargeable battery. Also, this product comes with a lifetime warranty!

This flashlight is quite durable, made with aluminum alloy materials. This means it is able to resist most weather problems like rain and fog. In fact, it can survive a 10-foot drop or being temporarily submerged in water, because it is IP65 standard waterproofed.

It has a zoom so you can adjust your desired focus length, puts out around 10 watts of lighting power, and can light to around 200 meters. You can clip it to your belt or fit it in a pocket or backpack because it is small and not too heavy.

This was the flashlight that the Armed Forces trusted for years, and now it is available to everyone. It has 100,000 lamp life hours and a built in utility clip and magnetic base. Cree LED, which is American made and the most trusted and powerful single LED in the market power it.

It uses a toggle power button that lets you flip between the light settings. The toggle works the same way the power does, but don’t push the button all the way in unless you want to turn it off. It is digitally regulated to maintain a constant brightness, and it also comes with protection against overheating so the surface won’t cause you to burn yourself.

This is an extremely durable light, as it as been tested under a lot of stressful circumstances and held true. In fact, it has been submerged in boiling water and freezing water, and still works. Being run over by a truck didn’t even destroy this one.

Fyland Tactical Flashlight

The last flashlight to review is another special lighting model. Like red light, green light is also easy for humans to see but goes mostly unnoticed by animals. This product has an unfiltered XP-E2 green light output powered by Cree LED. It works up to 350 yards away to help you find your prey without startling them.

The high quality aluminum body makes it incredibly durable and it is IP65 graded waterproof. It is also an IPX-6 rating so it works in the rain. It is slip resistant thanks to a non-slip handle design, so you can easily work in the rain. This flashlight will also easily mount to most rifles. It runs off a 2200 mAh rechargeable lithium ion battery.

What to Know about Hunting Flashlights

There are a few things you’ll need to know before you start buying the best hunting flashlights, though. As we mentioned before, you can’t just take any old flashlight. You have to narrow your own search down based on your individual needs.

For example, will you need to mount your flashlight to your rifle or bow when you hunt, or not? How far will you need to be able to see using your flashlight? How bright do you want the light to be? Will you want to carry spare batteries for your light, and if so what size?

As you answer these questions, start writing down your answers. This way, you will begin to develop a set of features that are important to you. If you don’t need a mount, you can filter out mounted flashlights and save some money. If you need specific lighting, colors, and batteries, that will help make an informed decision.

Sometimes, it is pretty obvious what you need. For example, you want a light powerful enough to help guide you through the woods in the dark. You may also want one that comes with a strobe feature, so you can signal other hunters when you need help or that you are in an area. A long beam is a great idea and if space is an issue then you’ll want one with smaller, easy to replace batteries to avoid taking too much storage space.

Finally, remember to be mindful of your budget… but not too mindful. We’ve included lights at a variety of different prices that we have screened for quality, but there are a lot of options. If you want tons of features and a high tech light, you can splurge, but it isn’t necessary. Most lights are very reasonably priced. That being said, often times you do get what you pay for so don’t just look for the cheapest light available or you may end up with a crappy light that isn’t worth having.

Verdict

If all of these still sound great and you just want us to tell you which one to buy, already, then we can do that, too. Although we love the Klarus, in terms of features to cost, the best value by far is the TC 1200 Pro Flashlight. It has a ton of great features while maintaining an approachable price range, and it even comes with a lifetime warranty.
